1.Features and Objects of the Course
This course is a comprehensive one that combines technology science, economics and management science. It is also a core course for students whose major is engineering management. Its objects are instructing the students to master the basic theory of engineering management and the methods of controling investment, progress and quality; familiarizing application characteristics of different specific project management technologies and methods in engineering; establishing a system of knowledge, technology and methods needed by the engineering management and cultivating students abilities in discovering, analyzing, researching and solving practical problems in engineering project management. These can be achieved on the base of studying basic courses of technology, economy, management and other related majors necessary for engineering management.

Theoretical part:
The teaching focuses on the entire process of the engineering project construction. Starting with the concept and features of the engineering project, it mainly instructs its basic ideas, management techniques, management methods, and management means, through which the students can form a systematic and integrated management concept of the whole project process; master engineering project organization technology and methods; grasp the ideas, techniques and methods of project structure decomposition and target system establishment; know the main techniques, methods and means of managing and controling the project’s expense, progress and quality; understand the major techniques and methods of engineering project contract management.
Practice part:
Forasmuch as its strong practicality, another teaching focus of this course is to effectively organize teaching and studying in combination with practical segments with guidance such as special topic lectures, coursework and course design, so that students’ abilities in discovering, analyzing, researching and solving practical problems in engineering project management can be trained.
